HOW DID WE GET HERE?

1940s-1950s:
The modern UFO era begins with various sightings, including the famous Roswell incident in 1947. Many governments around the world start investigating these phenomena.

Project Blue Book (1952-1969):
Led by Dr. J. Allen Hynek, the U.S. Air Force initiates Project Blue Book to investigate UFO sightings. While most cases are explained as natural phenomena or man-made objects, a small percentage remain unidentified.

1970s-2000s:
Interest in UFOs wanes, and the topic becomes associated with conspiracy theories. Governments release some UFO-related documents, but official investigations are limited.

2017:
The New York Times publishes an article revealing the existence of the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP), a secret Pentagon program that investigated UFOs. Luis Elizondo, a former military intelligence official and whistleblower, was involved in AATIP.

2017:
The Pentagon releases declassified videos captured by U.S. Navy pilots, showing encounters with unidentified aerial objects. These videos are known as the "Gimbal," "GoFast," and "FLIR1." David Fravor, a U.S. Navy pilot, is notably involved in the encounter known as the "Tic Tac" incident.

2019:
The U.S. Navy updates its reporting guidelines for pilots encountering unidentified aerial phenomena. The goal is to destigmatize reporting and encourage more thorough documentation.

2020:
The Department of Defense establishes the Unidentified Aerial Phenomena Task Force (UAPTF) with Christopher C. Mellon, a former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Intelligence, reportedly playing a role in its formation.

2020:
The COVID-19 relief bill includes a stipulation that the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) and the Secretary of Defense must provide an unclassified report on UAPs to Congress.

2021:
The UAPTF's report is released in June, acknowledging that most UAPs documented do not have a clear explanation. The report does not rule out the possibility of foreign adversaries being responsible for some incidents.

2021-2022:
Ongoing discussions and investigations continue, with figures like Luis Elizondo, Christopher Mellon, David Grusch (a U.S. Navy Intelligence Specialist), Ryan Graves (U.S. Navy pilot and witness to UAP encounters), and David Fravor playing key roles in whistleblowing and advocating for more transparency and further scientific study of UAPs.
